Cooking With Stanley Week 35

Cooking With Stanley Week 35

Cooking With Stanley today is all about comfort food. There are only two things on the menu but the main is so hearty and filling you won't want anything other than the insane dipper I have it paired with. Just in time for the cold weather, get ready to wear your holiday stretch pants and indulge in a little food coma.

MENU
Milanese Casserole
Grilled Mozzarella Cheese

The Milanese Casserole is basically a large dump of food in one pot. Three types of meat are accompanied by carrots, cabbage, parsnips, potatoes, herbs and a bunch more. It's kind of like a stew only more meat and not a ton of broth. It's really tasty and quite satisfying making it a perfect option for cold nights. It's fine on its own but I supposed you could serve it over rice or polenta if you were so inclined. It also would pair well with crusty bread but I have a much better option instead.

The Grilled Mozzarella Cheese is very simple and so addictive. Between two pieces of Italian bread is sliced fresh mozzarella and then the whole thing is dipped in an egg mixture and fried in olive oil. Think of it like double french toast with a cheesy center. This would make a great appetizer with marinara sauce for dipping or as a light lunch, preferably with tomato soup. For this particular dinner, it made the perfect partner to the casserole. Everyone will love this dinner and you'll have plenty of leftovers for a whole other night. That's always a win in my book.
