Literary Junkies January Link Up

Literary Junkies January Link Up

Welcome to the first Literary Junkies link up of 2016! I hope you're all staying warm this week. Weather has been crazy lately all over it seems. I am proud to say that since the last link up, I've finished two books and am currently wrapping up a third. This year, my Goodreads goal is only 15 books but the goal I'm really setting for myself is to read before bed at least three times each week. I miss having my reading time. Anyway, see below for this month's questions and let's get started!

1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it.
I am currently reading Paris Letters by Janice MacLeod. It's a travel memoir about a woman who quit a corporate job to travel. It's inspirational and reading about her life prior to traveling was like reading about my life for the past several years up until recently. I'm loving it and she  has inspired me to keep going after my travel dreams.

2. Are you doing any reading challenges in 2016? Share them with us.
I'm continuing the reading challenge PopSugar shared in 2015 that I have in my Bookshelf. My challenge to myself is to read at least a few nights each week, even if it's just for 15 minutes.

3. Have you discovered any new authors lately?
I recently discovered Erika Robuk and I am dying to read a few of her novels this year starting with Call Me Zelda.

4. There are a ton of book to movie adaptations coming out this year. Are you excited or disappointed by any in particular?
I have to say, I'm pretty disgusted with the zombie version of Pride and Prejudice. This is a classic story that has been portrayed beautifully, especially in the most recent starring Keira Knightley and Rosamund Pike. I feel like inserting zombies is a terrible idea and I will be avoiding it at all costs. I know this is based off of a book that did it first but I still disapprove of the entire idea altogether. While we're on the topic, I hate the zombification of Hollywood right now. Can we just move past it please?

On the flip side, I'm really looking forward to the next Alice In Wonderland installment with Johnny Depp back as the Mad Hatter. Alice Through the Looking Glass is set to come out in May. I'm also excited for The Jungle Book. They have a great cast so you know it's going to be amazing. They're also coming out with Inferno, the sequel to The Davinci Code I believe. I haven't seen the first movie yet but have always wanted to. I guess now is the time!

5. What is a book you were excited to read but a complete let-down feeling when you were finished?
This month's read, Fates & Furies by Lauren Groff was a terrible disappointment to me. I'll be discussing it more in a review coming soon but it did not live up to my expectations at all. I found myself disgusted a lot of the time and the surprising, gut wrenching change in perspective with the second half of the book was never delivered. More on that soon though.
